Aluminium and magnesium are light metals that also demonstrate a high degree of strength and stability, can be easily moulded and processed, are corrosion-resistant, conductors of heat and are entirely non-hazardous. These qualities make aluminium and magnesium suitable for intelligent product solutions and commercial applications. And best of all, these metals' unique properties are unaffected by the recycling process, so these precious resources can be reused countless times with no loss of quality.
As one of the world’s largest aluminium recyclers, REAL ALLOY understands what companies need to make their material flows and products suitable for their demands. We deliver these highly versatile metals in a variety of different alloys in molten and solid ingot forms. Molten aluminium can be delivered directly to the customer in specially designed crucibles or poured into moulds, allowing it to solidify into specialised shapes such as low-profile RSIs and several sizes of ingots.
Our refiners combine various scrap types and skimmings and drosses with hardeners and other additives to produce alloys and chemical compositions specified by customers for their particular applications. We offer the full range of aluminium-silicon alloys, including standard high-pressure die casting alloys and piston alloys, in accordance with customers’ requirements. At our magnesium recycling unit, we convert scrap, chips, and drosses into magnesium die casting alloy ingots.
REAL ALLOY converts wrought alloy scrap and skimmings and returns them to customers as wrought alloys of the same grade, or in accordance with their specifications in the form of remelt secondary ingots (RSIs) or molten metal. Thanks to our superior technology and years of expertise, we are able to continuously optimise our processes and deliver value to our customers by carefully maintaining a balance in the material flows for every batch or production run. Based on our commercial knowledge and market network, we are able to offer the best recycling solutions to our customers, in accordance with their overarching metal flow demands.
At REAL ALLOY, we know which kinds of alloys are required for even the most specialised parts and processes and how to source the right raw material – throughout the entire supply chain. Furthermore, REAL ALLOY operates as a service provider for the entire industry by toll-converting or swapping any kind of aluminium or magnesium scrap and offering comprehensive recycling solutions, even if the relevant metal units should not be returned.
REAL ALLOY PROVIDES THREE MAIN SERVICES FOR ITS CUSTOMERS:
- Production of dedicated alloys for businesses, based on buy / sell
- Swapping material units with others by making the best use of REAL ALLOY’s equipment and sourcing experience
- Toll-converting aluminium scrap and especially skimmings and drosses, and returning the metal to customers
What's more, we are not content to simply introduce new and improved products and technologies – our approach to innovation also extends to exploring new sales channels and business models, with a view to continuously improving the services we are able to offer our customers.
Aluminium and Magnesium recycling has a bright future in markets all around the globe. Recycled aluminium and magnesium provide an affordable, environmentally-friendly solution in a world where demand for resources continues to grow, and there is increasing awareness among both manufacturers and consumers about the importance of sustainability and environmental protection. The production of recycled aluminium and magnesium requires much less energy, and results in far fewer CO2 emissions.
Recycled aluminium and magnesium have vast potential. A wide variety of different raw materials can be covered, whether generated within production processes, or available as post-consumer scrap. These include, for example; turnings, foils, shredded scrap, incinerator scrap, or skimmings and drosses. They can be converted into different shapes and quality grades, in order to meet the needs of various industry segments, from lightweight automotive engineering to the production of well-designed food packaging.
REAL ALLOY is highly experienced in classifying various scrap types, specific to their final use, creating blending calculations and recipes for different specifications, remelting scrap using appropriate methods and equipment, and serving the industry with alloyed aluminium and magnesium that meets demands. Key industries that benefit from aluminium’s excellent properties:
Aluminium and magnesium are favoured in the automotive industry, due to their low specific weight, in combination with their strength property, as compared to other metals. Car manufacturers are increasingly opting for lightweight construction methods that use aluminium and magnesium to make their cars lighter and more fuel-efficient. More efficient cars mean reduced CO2 emissions.
Aluminium is a key material for the packaging of food, medication, and personal hygiene products. It not only provides protection and ensures freshness but also meets complex product design requirements across multiple industries.
In machine and plant engineering, aluminium is highly valued as a versatile construction material. Cast, forged, and extruded parts can be used to create customised, cost-effective, and technologically advanced product solutions for just about every kind of process.
Aluminium is used in the architectural industry and for the construction of facades because it is durable and requires minimal maintenance. Aluminium is also an ideal modern building material, as it lends itself to contemporary, aesthetic designs and meets today’s environmental and energy-efficiency standards.
REAL ALLOY is one of the few companies worldwide that produces a comprehensive range of aluminium and magnesium alloys. Our product range includes well over 250 different cast and wrought alloys, which we deliver to customers in a variety of solid forms. Most of our alloys are also available as molten metal, thanks to our sophisticated crucible technologies and optimised transport logistics.
DELIVERY AS RSI, SMALL INGOTS, CONES OR MOLTEN METAL
REAL ALLOY tailors its products and services to each customer’s individual specifications and adheres to the quality standards of the OEM industry. Our customers are actively involved in the development process and can choose between various delivery forms, including RSIs (remelt secondary ingots with a weight of 600 – 1,000 kg), small ingots (6.0 – 8.0 kg), cones (0.3 – 1.5 kg) and liquid metal. They can also define when, how, and where the materials should be delivered.
ADVANTAGES OF MOLTEN METAL SUPPLY
Liquid aluminium is particularly cost-effective if specific quantities of aluminium are required. This form of delivery can greatly reduce the overall outlay, as it means lower energy costs, less metal burn-off, and lower handling and financing costs. Customers do not need to operate their own melt shop and can still benefit from access to molten specification and wrought alloys at just the right temperature. The supply with liquid aluminium often significantly increases foundries’ throughput and productivity.
